We are excited to announce that we have expanded the MWE program to Texas!
We would like to welcome our new HS Directors to MWE Texas:
Art Senato and Josh Bobbitt.
Senato, who’s won 60% of the games he has coached, has been recognized by several outlets as one of the area’s top coaches in recent years. He was the Arlington Morning News Coach of the Year in 1998, Fort Worth Star-Telegram Coach of the Year in 1999, and the Dallas Morning News Coach of the Year in 2009. In addition, he has been named District Coach of the Year in 2000, 2001, 2008, 2012, and 2017.
Senato has set a high standard of success in his 21 years on the job, averaging more than 18 wins per season, including eight 20 win seasons and one 30 win season. Coach Senato’s teams have made the playoffs 15 out of 21 seasons and have experienced much playoff success, including 5 straight post-season appearances from 2008-2012. Senato’s career record currently sits at 391 wins, 256 losses, and 2 ties.
Over 90 former players have gone on to play college baseball, and 7 have been drafted by Major League Baseball organizations, including 2011 supplemental 1st Round pick Kyle Crick. Kyle was selected 49th overall by the San Francisco Giants and signed for $900,000. Fourteen of Senato’s former players should be on college baseball rosters in 2016, 4 on professional baseball rosters, and 3 are coaching at the collegiate level. Coach Senato has coached 11 All-State players including returning Junior Jeremy Meier and 1 All-American.
In addition to coaching high school baseball, Coach Senato was selected by USA Baseball as a coach/evaluator for their 14U National Team Identification Series and their 14U East Coast Team Championships. These events are important events to help select the 15U National team that competes overseas internationally. Coach Senato has served as an associate scout for the Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Dodgers, Seattle Mariners and currently the New York Mets. He has also been a staff member at LSU Tiger Baseball Camps under legendary coach Skip Bertman, and as an assistant coach for the Fort Worth Cats Independent Minor League Baseball Team. At LSU, Senato served as a general instructor and eventually headed up the base running portion of the camp. He credits much of his success to the time he spent at LSU working alongside of legendary coach Skip Bertman and his coaching staff that led the Tigers to 5 National Championships in the 90’s.
